Parish Finances

As with all parishes, we are dependent on the support of our congregation to enable us to continue ministering to the Parish and providing the religious services that are such a key part of our community. With falling attendances in recent years, this is more important than ever and we really appreciate your contributions and manage them very carefully.

We are fully accountable to the Charities Regulator as part of the Parishes and Schools of the Diocese of Elphin (registered charity number 20014018 and tax approved charity number 6942). Our Parish Finance Committee is made up of business and finance professionals who provide their time on a voluntary basis to review our finance processes, oversee our stewardship of parish funds, and to share their advice and recommendations.

How to Donate & Make Your Donation Go Further

Standing Order: If you would like the convenience of giving by Standing Order please contact the Parish Office on 071 9162670 or email info@sligocathedral.ie to arrange to have a form sent to you.

Responsible Stewardship Envelopes: Many families choose to give through our weekly envelopes. A box of envelopes covering the liturgical year (starting with Advent) is available by contacting the Parish Office (phone 071 9162670 or email info@sligocathedral.ie).

Charity Tax Relief:  The Cathedral can get tax relief on your donations to the parish. If you and your family have donated €250 or more in any calendar year (which includes all categories i.e. standing order, envelopes, plate donations etc.), the Revenue may give up to 45% extra as a tax refund to the parish. Please contact the Parish Office, (phone 071 9162670 or email info@sligocathedral.ie), for forms for any of the last 4 years (we can claim retrospectively) and to obtain more detailed information on the tax relief scheme.
