THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time 2013

The messengers of God’s truth have often had to suffer hostility and rejection. This is still part of the Church’s fate today as it continues the work of the prophets. As we struggle for truth we are encouraged by the Lord’s words to Jeremiah “I am with you to deliver you.”

BLESSING OF THROATS
To mark the Feast of St Blaise the Blessing of throats will take place after all Masses this Sunday.

WORLD DAY OF THE SICK – MONDAY – FEBRUARY 11
Monday Feb 11th is World Day of the Sick. A Special Blessing & Anointing of the Sick will take at the 10.30 a.m. Mass on that day. Please advise all the sick and housebound of your area and provide transport if necessary. Thank you.

NEXT CONFIRMATION PREPARATION MASS
Please note the next preparation Mass for our young people preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation takes place Sunday next, 10th February at 10.30am. All are encouraged to attend

BAPTISM IN THE CATHEDRAL PARISH
If you plan to have your child Baptised during the month of March or subsequent months you must now undertake a one night Baptismal Course which will take place in St Michael’s Family Life Centre, Church Hill on the third Thursday of every month. The first of these courses will take place on Thursday 21st February beginning at 8pm. To book a Baptism and register for this course please contact the Parish Office on 9162670. It is necessary to attend this course prior to the Baptism of your child.

FIRST CONFESSIONS
First Confessions will take place for all children making their First Holy Communion this year on Thursday the 21st of March at 7p.m. in our Cathedral.

RIVERSTOWN PARISH MISSION
Riverstown Parish Mission and Liam Lawton Concert To mark this very special year, The Year of Faith, a Parish Mission has been organised, in Riverstown, for all those wishing to gain a greater insight into what their faith means to them and to celebrate the gift of faith that each of us has been given. A number of specially chosen presenters have been invited to visit the Parish of Riverstown over a period of four evenings commencing in The Church of the Sacred Heart, Riverstown, on Thursday, February 7th at 8pm and ending with an evening of song and celebration on Sunday, February 10th.

February 8th – 8pm – Fr. Michael Drumm, Executive Chairperson of the Irish Catholic Schools Partnership Trust;

ANAM CARA
Anam Cara support groups are situated throughout Ireland and provide parents a safe, comfortable environment where they have the opportunity to connect with other bereaved parents. Anam Cara is an inclusive organisation where parents do not identify themselves by their children’s age, how they died, or if their death was recent or many years ago. What Anam Cara provides is a safe place for bereaved parents to connect with others who understand the intensity of the grief and loss. The next monthly support meeting is on Weds. 6th of Feb. from 7:30 to 9pm at The Ballybane Enterprise Centre, Galway. This event is free, open to all bereaved parents and each Anam Cara support group has a bereavement therapist present to answer any questions parents may have and signpost them to other services that are available in the area. GALILEE COMMUNITY PROGRAMMES
Galilee Community Programmes will
resume on Monday, February 4th. in Galilee Community. The house is open daily to all who wish to drop in for prayer, quiet time or a chat.
