TWENTY second SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

 22nd sunday in ord time

Many people think of God as remote and invisible. Our extraordinary faith tell us, that he is also close to us, that we can hear his Word and know what he wants from us. Today we are called not just to hear his Word, but to practice it without hypocrisy, so that we may receive life.

FRIDAY NEXT – SEPTEMBER 7th – FIRST FRIDAY
Friday next is the First Friday of the month. Mass will be celebrated at 8.00am, 10.30am and 7.00 pm. All are encouraged to attend these Masses, especially First Friday Mass at 7pm. CONFESSION TIMES Please note that Confessions will take place before the 8.00 am, 10.30 am., and 7.00 pm. Mass on Friday.

TEA / COFFEE MORNING & CAKE SALE GILLOOLY HALL
To complete the building of a Church in Fr Deogratias Kisweka’s native parish, St. Verena, Diocese of Ifakara, Tanzania.SATURDAY – SEPTEMBER 8th from 9am to 2.30pm. Please come and join us for a cuppa and help us to raise funds to provide a sacred space for the people of the parish of St. Verena. Donations of cakes and buns to be delivered to the Gillooly Hall between 6-8pm on Friday night and from 8am on Saturday morning. Tel: Maura on 086 397 0585.

REMINDER – EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS & READERS
Further to the letter sent out this week please note that meetings will be held in the Gillooly Hall this week. Eucharistic Ministers will meet on Wednesday next at 8pm and Readers on Thursday at 8pm. All are encouraged to attend.

NOVENA TO BLESSED TERESA OF CALCUTTA
The Novena continues from 6.30-7.30pm in the Convent of the Missionaries of Charity, Temple St. until September 4th. Her Feast Day Mass will be celebrated on September 5th in our Cathedral at 7pm with Bishop Jones as the main Celebrant.

YEAR OF FAITH 2012-13
Catholicism WORD ON FIRE series coming soon to the Gillooly Hall. This programme is primarily for parents presenting their children for sacraments but others are most welcome. Highly acclaimed series from Rev Robert Barron. See www.wordonfire.org

We are currently accepting applications for this exciting Diploma programme that enables students to trace their family history, learn about lore, life and mythology in the region and stimulate them in themes of local history and archaeology. This Diploma in Arts, Level 7, is accredited by NUI Galway.With no specific entry requirements, this programme is open to all and may be of particular interest to primary/secondary school teachers, librarians, archivists and staff in heritage centres and museums. ANAM CARA
Anam Cara support groups are situated throughout Ireland and provide parents a safe, comfortable environment where they have the opportunity to connect with other bereaved parents. Anam Cara is an inclusive organisation where parents do not identify themselves by their children’s age, how they died, or if their death was recent or many years ago. What Anam Cara provides is a safe place for bereaved parents to connect with others who understand the intensity of the grief and loss. Anam Cara is holding its monthly support meeting on Wednesday 5th of September 2012 from 19:30 to 21:00 at The Ballybane Enterprise Centre, Galway. This event is free, open to all bereaved parents and each Anam Cara support group has a bereavement therapist present to answer any questions parents may have and signpost them to other services that are available in the area.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTORS
We wish to remind organisations and volunteers that the Garda permit they receive allows them to collect outside the Church gates only, i.e. on the footpath.  Thank you for your observation of this stipulation.

S.T.O.P.                       SUICIDE – TEACH, ORGANISE, PREVENT
S.T.O.P. is a registered charity that provides professional and accredited counselling services to individuals and families who have been bereaved by suicide or are feeling in distress or suicidal. ADDICTION STUDIES:
