Jesus came as the Servant of God to serve the deepest needs of people. He offered his life to remove the tragedy of sin from human life and so restore us to peace with God, and each other.

Theme: “Is Christ Divided?”
(based on 1 Corinthians 1:13)
Church Unity Week continues until Saturday, January 25th.  During this time we are asked to pray in a special way for unity among all Christians.
PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY
Father of all creation through the power of your Spirit You sent in the fullness of time your Son, Jesus Christ to live among us and to make us one.  May the example of His life continue to inspire all Christians.  As we journey together towards the celebration of this New Year may the unity He signifies bind us together in love.  Amen

OUR CATHEDRAL ORGAN RESTORATION FUND
We would like to thank most sincerely all those who contributed so generously at the Carol Service just before Christmas. The amount raised for the organ restoration fund was €1,370.

SLIGO CATHEDRAL CHOIR
Can you sing? Did you sing in a choir? Would you like to sing in a choir again? Well why not think about joining our Cathedral Choir? Music is at the heart of our worship and our choir is the heart of our music. If you are interested in joining new members are always welcome! Just contact the Parish Office!

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
Sunday January 26th to Sunday February 2nd
Theme: ‘Catholic Schools – Centres of Faith and Learning’.
This week school communities across the country celebrate our schools being firmly rooted in the wider community of faith, being just one place within that community where the faith of our children is nurtured, deepened and challenged. This week is also about strengthening relationships among all who have a stake in our schools – students, staff, families, priests, parishioners, and members of the wider community.


SLIGO SAMARITANS SPRING RECRUITMENT
Samaritans is an internationally-recognised volunteer-led charity with a national, regional and local presence. Ranked in the top 5 ‘most trusted charities’ in Ireland its volunteers have been providing confidential support 24/7 for 60 years. To touch another person’s life when it really matters is a rare gift. Many  have it in them to be a Samaritans volunteer. If you are interested an Information & Selection Evening will be held on Wednesday 22nd January at 7.30 pm at Sligo Samaritans Centre, 3 The Mall, Sligo. All welcome.

SAINT BRIGID’S CROSSES
Reeds are being gathered at the moment and work will commence shortly on the preparation of Saint Brigid’s Crosses for her Feast Day on Saturday, Feb 1.  Those willing to help should contact the Sisters of the Presentation Tel: 916 0740. Thank you.

OXFAM
Oxfam are currently very short of donations/stock. Donations of unwanted quality items (clothes, shoes, bags, books, CD’s/DVD’s, homewares, electrical, bric a brac, jewellery & accessories) would be greatly appreciated. Oxfam seek Volunteers to join in Customer Service, Merchandising, Stock control, Books, Music and Till Operators. 4 hours per week.  No Experience necessary.
