Newsletter 18th November 2012

33rd Sunday in Ord TIme 2012
TODAY – 18th NOVEMBER 2012
THIRTY THIRD SUNDAY ORDINARY TIME

Some of the images in today’s readings may appear incomprehensible to many but they give us hope. God had promised to bring about the transformation of this fallen world, the resurrection of the dead. The timing belongs to God. Our part is to live in hope, through the difficulties of our life and history.

WAY OF GENTLENESS – ADVENT
Commences in the Cathedral Tuesday December 4th at 8pm and continuing on the following 2 Tuesday nights December 11th and 18th. The call to focus on Christ’s coming into our hearts and homes is the only true meaning of Christmas. Everyone is welcome to join in this hour of guided prayer, silent time and music in preparation for Christmas.

ADVENT – SCRIPTURE SHARING IN THE HOME
With the approach of Advent (First Sunday of Advent is December 2nd) – we invite parishioners to consider hosting Scripture Sharing Groups in their homes over this sacred season. Groups should be kept small and consist of 3 to 6 people to allow all to participate fully in the sharing of Scripture. Guidelines are available at the Parish Office and if you are interested in participating please contact Tel: 9162670.

YEAR OF FAITH ACTIVITIES: –
HOW TO LEARN WHAT THE CHURCH TEACHES
The Catechism of the Catholic Church is an explanation of that faith divided into four broad sections: what we believe, how we worship, how we live, and how we pray. The documents of the Second Vatican Council have addressed everything from the Church’s relationship with other religions and the secular world, to how she should continue her work of spreading the word of Jesus in the modern era.

BAPTISMS
We welcome into God’s family
JAMES GERRARD and
SHEILA FLANAGAN
who were recently baptised in the Cathedral.
