Thirty Third Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C - 17th November 2013

THIRTY THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
17h NOVEMBER 2013
As we come towards the end of the Church’s Year we are reminded of the end of all time. Before it comes there will be time of trial: for the believer who endures in faith the end will not bring condemnation but healing and life
.

TODAY’S TRÓCAIRE EMERGENCY APPEAL
In light of the enormous tragedy that has occurred the Trustees of Trócaire have agreed that today’s special church collection for Syria should be shared with the Philippines. Super Typhoon Haiyan made landfall in the Philippines on Friday morning, 8 November, as a Category 5 super typhoon with 195 mph winds. The resulting damage to an area already recovering from an earthquake is catastrophic. Caritas Philippines estimate that thousands have lost their lives with hundreds of thousands being displaced from their homes. Desperate shortages of food, water, medicines and shelter will likely see the death toll rise. This is a major humanitarian crisis and Trócaire is responding with €100,000 already committed. Trócaire is also working with the International Caritas Network to assemble a specialist team to support their efforts and are providing vital help to Irish missionaries in the affected regions. A special pre-printed envelope is available at the Cathedral entrance. Please take one and return it at any Mass this weekend. Further donations can be made online at www.trocaire.org Your support saves lives, thank you.

NOVEMBER – CEMETERY ROSARY
The Rosary will be recited today at 3pm and next Sunday, the 24th of November, in Sligo Cemetery
.
