16th Sunday in Ord Time

TODAY – 11th NOVEMBER 2012
THIRTY SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Our readings today show us two widows giving generously what they could barely afford to give. Poverty need not lead to bitterness. It can lead to heroic generosity and courage. Such poor as these two widows stand as a living condemnation of us who have so much. We give so little, as we watch the perpetuation of injustice and poverty in our world.

WAY OF GENTLENESS – ADVENT
Commences in the Cathedral Tuesday December 4th at 8pm and continuing on the following 2 Tuesday nights December 11th and 18th. The call to focus on Christ’s coming into our hearts and homes is the only true meaning of Christmas. Everyone is welcome to join in this hour of guided prayer, silent time and music in preparation for Christmas.

ADVENT – SCRIPTURE SHARING IN THE HOME
With the approach of Advent (First Sunday of Advent is December 2nd) – we invite parishioners to consider hosting Scripture Sharing Groups in their homes over this sacred season. Groups should be kept small and consist of 3 to 6 people to allow all to participate fully in the sharing of Scripture. Guidelines are available at the Parish Office and if you are interested in participating please contact Tel: 9162670.

YEAR OF FAITH ACTIVITIES: – MAKE A PLIGRIMAGE

Pilgrimages are great moments of prayer where we make a journey to a particular place as a sign that all Christian life is precisely that, a journey, walking with the help of Christ and his Church. This does not necessarily have to be anywhere grand or far away – even a visit to a local shrine or important Church or Cathedral can be a clear way of declaring your intention to follow Jesus.

MISSION ENVELOPES
We thank those who have returned their envelopes and for their support of the church’s missionary activity. We remind those who have not yet returned their envelopes that they are still in time to do so. The total collected so far is €2,053.

BAPTISMS
We welcome into God’s family
ERIKA GARCIA,
RICHARD WHELAN and
TYLER HIGGINS
who were recently baptised in the Cathedral.
