9th June 2013 Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

10th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C 9th June 2013

TODAY JUNE 9th – TENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Every conversation, like St Paul’s for example, is a raising to new life.  It is like Christ saying to our mother, the Church, ‘Look, your son is alive again,’ and ‘her mourning is changed into dancing’.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR JUBILARIANS
We extend congratulations and best wishes to the Priests of our Deanery who celebrate jubilees this year.
RT REV MSGR JOE JENNINGS – Platinum Jubilee – 70 Years
VERY REV MICHAEL GLYNN – Diamond Jubilee- 60 Years
RT REV MSGR GERARD DOLAN – Golden Jubilee- 50 years
VERY REV GERARD CRYAN – Silver Jubilee- 25 Years
We thank them for their years of dedication, faithful ministry and their witness to the love of the Lord.

THIS SUNDAY WE WELCOMEDEACON FRANK McGUINNESS
Last week we welcomed Rev Frank McGuinness, one of the newly ordained Deacons, who has been appointed to our Parish. Frank’s role will be: assisting and preaching at Mass and other Liturgies including Exposition and Benediction of Blessed Sacrament, celebrating Baptisms, Funeral Liturgies and Marriage and visiting the sick/housebound with the Eucharist. Rev Frank will also assist with other parish activities.

CHOOSE LIFE 2013
Human life is sacred and inviolable at every moment of existence, including the initial phase which precedes birth. All human beings, from their mothers’ womb, belong to God who searches them and knows them, who forms them and knits them together with his own hands, who gazes on them when they are tiny shapeless embryos and already sees in them the adults of tomorrow whose days are numbered and whose vocation is even now written in the “book of life” (cf. Ps 139: 1, 13-16). There too, when they are still in their mothers’ womb-as many passages of the Bible bear witness -they are the personal objects of God’s loving and fatherly providence.
– Evangelium vitae, 61, Encyclical Letter of Pope John Paul II, 1995.
PRAYER FOR THE CHILD IN THE WOMB
Guide the work of doctors, nurses and midwives. May the life of a mother and her baby in the womb be equally cherished and respected.  Amen.  For more please visit chooselife2013.ie.

Please note that there is an additional envelope today entitled PETER’S PENCE.  Proceeds from this collection in the Irish Church help fund the Central Administration of the Church in Rome and the various Church agencies which assist the Holy Father.  Envelopes can be returned at any Mass next weekend. YEAR OF FAITH PIOLGRIMAGE TO LOUGH DERG
You may be thinking of a way to celebrate this Year of Faith.  Many will do so, in a time-honoured way, by going on pilgrimage. Lough Derg, the Sanctuary of St Patrick, a unique place of pilgrimage offers opportunities to celebrate this Year of Faith.  Connect with the faith our ancestors and the prayers of millions who have ‘done’ Lough Derg down the centuries. There will be a warm welcome both to returning pilgrim friends and many new pilgrims who make the traditional Three-Day Pilgrimage from 31st May through to 13th August.
