The Solemnity of Christ the King Year C - 24th November 2013

SOLEMNITY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, UNIVERSAL KING
24thNOVEMBER 2013
We belong to the rule of Christ who rules not by being served but by his service of people, a service so radical that it led to his death. The cross is Christ’s throne: on the cross he is lifted up and makes peace between God and humankind.  Those who follow his rule of service will share in his kingdom of peace.

CLOSING OF THE YEAR OF FAITH
We have come to the end of a Year dedicated entirely to the renewal of the faith in us believers, but there remains the wish to keep alive the teaching we have received.
This Year has helped us to look at the many positive signs of hope that are genuinely present in our Church. The Year of Faith has enabled us to experience this. For this reason we look to the future with greater serenity, strengthened by the experience of this Year and the positive effects of which we hope will be felt for a long time to come.
The following are the events that marked the Year in our parish:
Year of Faith Events
Appointment of Sligo Parishes Cluster Catechist
Baptism Preparation Programme
Visitation to Homes in Cathedral Parish
Diocesan Seminars on Faith
Diocesan Conference on Faith
Cluster Festival of Faith
Pilgrimages to Innishmurray and Lough Derg
Cluster Pilgrimage to Holy Land
Participation with Universal Church in Holy Hour on Feast of Corpus Christi
Consecration of Diocese to Immaculate Heart of Mary with 24 hour vigil
Holy Hour on Friday’s of Lent for Life
Two Catechism Courses with 40 adults participating – ongoing
Three Year of Faith newsletters.
We thank God for all the graces and blessings received by all those who took part in these events throughout the Year of Faith
.
