24th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
15th September 2013

The joy in heaven over one repentant sinner explains why Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. God hates sin, but he loves the sinner. He is so full of pity that he is more anxious to give forgiveness than we are to ask for it.

SISTERS OF PRESENTATION OF MARY
GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION
Today’s 12 noon Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Jones to mark the Golden Jubilee of the presence of the Sisters of Presentation of Mary in the Diocese of Elphin (1963-2013).
We join with our Parishioners in thanking the Sisters for their association with the diocese and for the extraordinary work they have carried out over the past 50 years in helping both to promote the education of our young people and the spiritual wellbeing of the people of Sligo. The Sisters first came to the dioceses to
manage St Cuan’s College in Castleblakeney. At present they help in the coordination of perpetual Adoration at the Chapel of Adoration in our Cathedral as well as being involved in the care of St Bernadette’s Chapel, Rockwood Parade. A number of Sisters of the Provincial Council from the Philippines and their General Council in Rome are with us for this special occasion.
GO RAIBH MÍLE MAITH AGAIBH  –  THANK YOU  –  SALAMAT
The Parish join with Bishop Jones, Fathers Tom, Pat, Andrew and Johnny in wishing the Sisters every blessing and pray that their roles long continue in the life of our Cathedral Parish and the Diocese of Elphin.
